Today I have an interesting new guest post, brought to you by Barbara from Momographica. She will be talking to you about something that it's very new for me and maybe for you too, so enjoy :).
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Japan fashion subcultures always fascinated me because of their varieties and european - like inspirations.
Since I have been growing this wide interest for anything Eastern, one of my favored Japanese fashion subcultures has been Lolita Fashion. Recognized officially in Japan in the seventies, is a fashion subculture based on Victorian-era clothing as well as costumes from the Rococo period. Today,in Japan as well as in other many countries, there are thousands of shops which deal with Lolita clothes and accessories. Baby, The Stars Shine Bright and Angelic Pretty, that own stores in Japan as well as in San Francisco and Paris, are just two of a long list of popular brands you can indulge yourself if you want to get something aristocrat and a bit pricy.
The Wikipedia section displays a lot of extensive information on the genre so I feel like recommending having a look at it. Lolita Fashion is another extensive source of information if you want to become a proper Japanese-like Rococo lady. And if you are interested on how becoming a Gothic Lolita there is a list on what you have to do (and NOT have to do).
I am planning to come back next month with a wonderful surprise. Stay tuned and Happy June!

I find Lolita fashions fascinating in a slightly frightening kind of way...
ReplyDeleteBtw, would you mind if I linked your blog for a Fabulous Friday feature?
lovely!
ReplyDeleteAh ! I loved this once. I wanted to buy from Bodyline (low price) and Anna House (for my birthday), but somehow it always messed up, etc. Then I sew a petticoat, and integrated some lolita elements to my style of then, but that was it sadly! (I was about 12 and I couldn't find any affordable, quality textiles even on fleamarkets, only laces)
ReplyDeleteNow, there was a french website where you could gain stuffs with points or something, but you had to already post photos of you wearing lolita to gain points :(
Now I could dress in sweet lolita for I just bought a 10€ skirt that would work it at Lidl! A great surprise. It just with my big boots, it wouldn't be sweet at all?!
That post was such a great surprise too and I really like the photos!
I love this one! Fabulous!

I saw this before. To me it seems rather like a lifestyle than just a style...some look cute, other look scary in it lol
ReplyDeleteLolita fashion is kinda creepy for me - little girls who are adult in a weird way or adults who still are little girls..LOL! May be it is just me! Hope you are having a wonderful day!
