A PUMPKIN FOR YOU - GUEST POST

Hello! I'm Barbara and I'm back with a new post from a new blog Pink Like a Peach. I decided to write about the new season and I ended up taking a few pictures of some beautiful decorative pumpkins I had been gifted  by a relative. Autumn is my favorite season for many reasons: my birthday is placed at the beginning of it , I have fond  memories of eating roasted chestnuts at the local church fair and of playing pranks during the Halloween day when nobody knew what Halloween was around here.
Is Halloween an official holiday where you live? I'd love to hear your stories.

A SUMMER DRESS-UP GAME

Bonjour, Barbara here, from Momographica! I'm typing this post on my way back from the fabulous French capital, where I spent a gorgeous week among cultural fairs, museums and vintage books markets. How is your summer going so far?
I'd like to greet July with an unusual post that combine the energies of a special guest and the collaboration of you, the readers of Drastic Plastic. We are in for a dress-up game.
This time Youko Tales author Yumeko agreed to be my assistant and started this game first. You may want to know that we shot this set in Paris but you don't need anywhere fancy to participate.

This is how we did it:

Yumeko is wearing: a hat by TALLY WeiJL, a dress by CATWORLD, a pair of ivory white stockings by Tezenis, red shoes by Sandy Lane and she is carrying a bag by PIMKIE.

Yumeko's item of choice for this game is a BB Cream by Missha.

She is feeling melancholic and she is listening to Dive to Blue / L'Arc-en-Ciel.

And now, WHAT DO YOU HAVE TO DO?

Switch on your music player and choose a song to be inspired by;
Select your choice of clothes and accessories while being inspired by the melody and dress yourself up;
Go outside to somewhere nice, be it your favourite park, the beach, your garden,anywhere you feel going to;
Ask an acquaintance to take a few pictures of you in your inspired attire;
Post these pictures on your blog and let us know the title of the song you chose, what you are wearing and how you are feeling: the more detailed is the description,the better;
Leave a comment under this post and tell us where we can read what you posted;
Have fun and feel beautiful!

Quite simple, isn't it? Don't be shy! I can't wait to see your outfits :) !

MORE STRIPES FROM ROBYN

I'm back and with more stripes! Last month when I was on Drastic Plastic I styled this cobalt blue striped skirt from Old Navy and today I have styled a black & white striped dress from Old Navy. It was totally unintentional, I swear! I've had this dress for a few months now and still hadn't worn it so I took it out for a date night with the boyfriend a few nights ago. Its a fun dress, especially when its blowing in the wind.

My obsession this summer is definitely stripes. I have purchased 1 striped skirt, 2 striped tops and 2 striped dresses in the last few months. I almost bought a striped bathing suit while on vacation last month too but held myself back. No more stripe purchases for me for a while!

Come by my blog, What's Hanging, over the next few weeks to see Road-Trip Diary posts of our drive from Key West, Florida all the way to New Orleans, Louisiana.

Outfit Deets;
Dress: Old Navy
Shoes: American Eagle c/o Payless Shoesource
Belt: Stitches
Earrings: Forever 21

PINK IN A BOWL: JUNE GIVEAWAY FOR DRASTIC PLASTIC READERS from BARBARA

Hello, Barbara from Momographica here :). June is already here and summer is approaching! The forecasting guy promised an unusual cold summer this year in Italy. In fact we are being submerged by storms and we are still hanging around with warm clothes! The fashion industry did really suffer with their Spring collection this time. But flowers had come and few days ago we were gifted with a marvellous, giant bunch of pink and white peonies. I indulged in some still-life photography and I created something new for you.
My gift for you this June is a wallpaper featuring a peony in a bowl. I am experimenting a lot with black background lately, I simply love the light effects you can reach with it and a few lights. I am currently working on a series of photographs that feature flora and eastern styled home accessories. You can use this free picture as a wallpaper for your desktop or for your mood board, if you like it.
Last but not least, a few notes: I promised something big was coming this way, from me to you, this summer. Because I am currently renovating my workplace and I do need it to prepare what I thought for you, the project will be coming around September. Let's just hope the result will be worth the waiting! Happy June!

GUEST POST - ROBYN from WHATS HANGING

top - RW&Co.; skirt - Old Navy; shoes - Aldo; earrings - White Ocean Gallery

1. What inspired you to start blogging?
I am a part-time student in the Marketing Management – Professional Sales Option program at a local technology institute and am a Sales Rep for an engineering firm that designs and manufactures chargers for electric vehicles (that’s a mouthful!). As you can probably imagine, my job is quite technical which is why blogging has become such a great outlet for me. Anyone that knows me knows that I have a love for fashion and finding a great deal so when one of my professors mentioned that I have a creative outlet, my mind went right to all those Vancouver bloggers that I had been following. I started avidly researching and reading more and more blogs until one day I finally felt comfortable enough to start my own. My life & style blog covers a range of topics from my daily style, travel, upcoming sales and events around Vancouver, and my French Bulldog, Gnarly.

2. Describe your style.
I like to think my style is quite classic with a bit of modern flare. I sometimes worry that I wear too much black but overall am quite comfortable with my sense of style. It is easy to stand out in crazy colors or wild prints but it takes some skill to stand out in an all-black ensemble or everyday office appropriate attire.

3. Favorite places to shop?
The usual’s - Zara, Forever 21, H&M, RW&Co., Mexx, Old Navy, The Bay, Winners. There is also this great little consignment boutique, La Petite Boutique, in my neighborhood that I check out often and have found some great pieces here.  There are a lot of Vancouver shops and boutiques around the city too that I try to make a habit of checking out once in a while. These are great places to find party dresses and one of a kind pieces.

4. How do you juggle between full-time work, schoolwork, finding the time to blog and being a pet owner?
I definitely have to juggle everything that’s for sure. My main priorities are work, school and taking care of my frenchie, Gnarly. I am very lucky that my work allows dogs in the office so Gnarly’s second home is under my desk. I am also very lucky that my work pays for most of my schooling and therefore is quite flexible on allowing me to take day or evening classes, whatever works with my schedule at the time. As for blogging, I try to set aside one evening a week, usually Sunday or Monday nights, to prepare for the week. My amazing boyfriend helps out a lot too snapping pics for me on our way out to the dog park, a friend’s house, dinner or wherever else we might be headed.

5. Favorite trends of this season?
My favorite trend right now is STRIPES! I am loving the long striped maxi dresses, striped skirts, striped tee’s, etc. It’s something that can easily be dressed up or down and pretty much anyone of any size can wear.  I also love how sequins are being coordinated into everyday wear; it’s so fun to add a little sparkle to your everyday attire. This pretty much describes my outfit in today’s pictures, stripes and sequins which was totally unintentional.

6. What do you love most about living in Vancouver?
The great thing about this city is that there are so many outdoorsy things to do in and around Vancouver – hiking, mountain biking, kayaking, skiing/snowboarding, rock climbing, the list is pretty much endless – there is always something to do or going on here. We are fairly active people so this city really suits our lifestyle plus I love living near the ocean. The only thing that would make Vancouver better is if it rained a little less.

7. Dream career and dream city?
It’s not a city but I do have a dream of where I would like to live one day. I would LOVE to live in one of the little beach towns (Huntington, Newport, Laguna) along the Pacific Coast Highway in California and open up a little clothing boutique.

8. Tell us about your French Bulldog, Gnarly.
Oh Gnarly… he is my baby. I could go on for days about him. I am the epitome of the crazy dog lady for sure. Gnarly has a huge personality for such a little guy and he definitely knows he is adorable. We call him our “little celebrity”. We can’t go anywhere with him without being stopped and asked all about him or having his picture taken. I can’t imagine life without him. He makes us smile every single day and I just love him to pieces.
